Pump & Jump – Weka Street Nelson
This mural encircles the Weka Street pump station that sits on the Atawhai–CBD cycleway. This site was once a tidal estuary of Nelson Haven; the sea lapped up to what is now Elliot Street. The old 1840 shoreline is worked into the mural composition. Now, with climate change, will the sea once again rise around this place, perhaps returning fish, weka and even kiwi to our CBD as we retreat to the hills?
